Scope note: Enzima de reparación del ADN que cataliza la escisión de residuos ribosa en sitios apurínicos y apirimidínicos del ADN que resultan de la acción de las ADN GLICOSILASAS. La enzima cataliza una reacción de beta-eliminación en la cual se rompe el enlace C-O-P 3' al sitio apurínico o apirimidínico del ADN, dejando un azúcar insaturado 3'-terminal y un producto con un fosfato 5'-terminal. Esta enzima fue clasificada antiguamente como EC 3.1.25.2.
