Scope note: | The Network on Science and Technology Indicators - Ibero-American and Inter-American - (RICYT), with the participation of all the American countries, Spain and Portugal, was created after a proposal arisen from the First Ibero-American Workshop on Science and Technology Indicators carried out in Argentina in 1994. RICYT was adopted by the CYTED Program as an Ibero-American network and by the Organization of American States (OAS) as an Inter-American network. Its beginning became effective in April 1995. At this moment, the main support of the network is the Ibero-American States Organization (OEI), through the Science, Technology and Society Observatory of the Center for Higher Education Studies (OEI/CAEU). It also counts with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). RICYT takes part as observer in the NESTI Group, of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). In addition, RICYT works jointly with the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, the Interamerican Debelopment Bank (IADB), the Economic Comission for Latin-America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Executive Secretariat of Convenio Andrés Bello (SECAB), the Caribbean Council for Science and Technology (CCST) and the Commission for Scientific and Technological Development of Central America and Panama (CTCAP).
