Scope note Cobra venom factor (CVF) is a COMPLEMENT C3B analog. With Bb, CVF forms the CVFBb complex, a COMPLEMENT C3 convertase with a half-life of 7 h at body temperature as compared to 1.5 min for the C3bBb complex. The cobra venom-derived enzyme causes continuous COMPLEMENT ACTIVATION and depletion of downstream complement components.
