Scope note: Subtipo eucariótico de proteína serina-treonina fosfatasa que desfosforila una amplia variedad de proteínas celulares. La enzima está compuesta por una subunidad catalítica y una subunidad reguladora. Existen varias isoformas de la subunidad catalítica de la proteína fosfatasa debido a la presencia de múltiples genes y al empalme alternativo de sus ARNm. Se ha demostrado que un gran número de proteínas actúan como subunidades reguladoras de esta enzima. Muchas de las subunidades reguladoras tienen funciones celulares adicionales.

Several isoforms of the protein phosphatase catalytic subunit exist due to the presence of multiple genes and the alternative splicing of their mRNAs. A large number of proteins have been shown to act as regulatory subunits for this enzyme. Many of the regulatory subunits have additional cellular functions.
