Scope note: Desaminasa APOBEC que actúa como inhibidor de la replicación de los RETROVIRIDAE y que inhibe la movilidad de los RETROTRANSPOSONES vía mecanismos dependientes e independientes de desaminación. Es selectiva para el ADN DE CADENA SIMPLE y no desamina el ADN de cadena doble o el ARN de cadena simple o doble (ARN BICATENARIO). Exhibe una actividad antiviral potente frente al HIV-1 deficiente en PROTEÍNA VIF mediante la creación de hipermutaciones en el ADN VIRAL. También tiene actividad antiviral frente al VIRUS DE LA INMUNODEFICIENCIA DE LOS SIMIOS y el VIRUS DE LA HEPATITIS B.

Scope note: An APOBEC deaminase that functions as an inhibitor of RETROVIRIDAE replication and inhibits the mobility of RETROTRANSPOSONS via deaminase-dependent and independent mechanisms. It is selective for SINGLE-STRANDED DNA and does not deaminate double-stranded DNA or single or DOUBLE-STRANDED RNA. It exhibits potent antiviral activity against VIF PROTEIN deficient HIV-1 through the creation of hypermutations in the VIRAL DNA. It also has anti-viral activity against SIMIAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUSES and HEPATITIS B VIRUS.
