Scope note: Familia de proteínas transmembranarias que actúan principalmente como canales de cloruro activados por calcio. Estructuralmente forman un heterodímero en el que cada subunidad consta de ocho hélices transmembranarias con los extremos N y C expuestos al citosol. Las regiones entre las hélices 5 y 7 son importantes para la formación de poros iónicos y la unión a los iones calcio.

Scope note: A family of transmembrane proteins that function primarily as calcium-activated chloride channels. Structurally, they form a homodimer where each subunit consists of eight transmembrane helices with the N and C terminals exposed to the cytosol. The regions between helices 5 and 7 may be important for ion pore formation and calcium ion binding.
