Scope note: Funcionamiento intelectual infranormal que se origina durante el período del desarrollo. Tiene múltiples etiologías potenciales, como defectos genéticos y lesiones perinatales. Para determinar si un individuo tiene discapacidad intelectual se utiliza habitualmente el valor del cociente intelectual (CI). Los valores del CI entre 70 y 79 son valores fronterizos (borderline). Scope note: Subnormal intellectual functioning which originates during the developmental period. This has multiple potential etiologies, including genetic defects and perinatal insults. Intelligence quotient (IQ) scores are commonly used to determine whether an individual has an intellectual disability. IQ scores between 70 and 79 are in the borderline range. Scores below 67 are in the disabled range. (from Joynt, Clinical Neurology, 1992, Ch55, p28) In DeCS, some entry terms may include outdated and offensive terms according to The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) in order to assist users who are interested in retrieving comprehensive search results for studies such as in longitudinal studies.
