Scope note:

Moléculas de ácidos nucleicos bicatenarios (ADN-ADN o ADN-ARN) que contienen regiones de malapareamiento de nucleótidos (no complementarios). In vivo, estos heterodúplex pueden producirse por mutación o recombinación genética; in vitro, se forman por hibridación de ácidos nucleicos. El análisis por microscopía electrónica de los heterodúplex resultantes facilita el mapeo de regiones de similitud (homología) de secuencias de bases de ácidos nucleicos.

Scope note:

Double-stranded nucleic acid molecules (DNA-DNA or DNA-RNA) which contain regions of nucleotide mismatches (non-complementary). In vivo, these heteroduplexes can result from mutation or genetic recombination; in vitro, they are formed by nucleic acid hybridization. Electron microscopic analysis of the resulting heteroduplexes facilitates the mapping of regions of base sequence homology of nucleic acids.
