Note d'application: A holistic system of medicine originated in Tibet which is also practiced in parts of India, Nepal, Bhutan, Mongolia, the Himalayan regions, and Siberia. It addresses the needs of the individual as a whole, integrating body, mind, and spirit, including the internal and external environment of the individual. It has similarities to the Ayurvedic principles of India, as many texts and medicines used in Sowa Rigpa have their roots in Ayurveda, adapted and enriched in the Tibetan context. The "energy" in Sowa Rigpa is the dynamic power that is the source of all existence, including the physical body and the mind. It arises from the Five Elements (space, wind, fire, water, and earth) and condenses into three specific qualities known as the Three Humors: bile, phlegm, and wind.
