Scope note: Carboxi-liasa que desempeña un papel central en la asimilación fotosintética del carbono en el CICLO DE CALVIN-BENSON al catalizar la formación de 3-fosfoglicerato desde ribulosa 1,5-bifosfato y DIÓXIDO DE CARBONO. Puede utilizar también OXÍGENO como substrato para catalizar la síntesis de 2-fosfroglicolato y 3-fosfoglicerato en un proceso denominado fotorrespiración.

It can also utilize OXYGEN as a substrate to catalyze the synthesis of 2-phosphoglycolate and 3-phosphoglycerate in a process referred to as photorespiration.
