Scope note: Grupo de ácidos grasos, con frecuencia de origen marino, que tienen el primer enlace no saturado en la tercera posición a partir del carbono omega. Se cree que estos ácidos grasos reducen los triglicéridos en suero, previenen la resistencia a insulina, mejoran el perfil lipídico, prolongan los tiempos de hemorragia, reducen el recuento plaquetario y disminuyen la adherencia plaquetaria.
