Cada célula está programada para realizar determinado número de divisiones celulares y, al finalizar dicho tiempo, la proliferación se interrumpe y la célula entra en un estado de inactividad tras el cual se produce la MUERTE CELULAR a través del proceso de APOPTOSIS.
