Scope note:	Subfamilia de fosfodiesterasas de nucleótidos cíclicos que se activa por la unión del GMP CÍCLICO a un dominio alostérico que se encuentra en la enzima. Pueden producirse múltiples variantes enzimáticas de este subtipo debido al corte y empalme alternativo múltiple del ARNm. La subfamilia se expresa en una gran variedad de tejidos y puede desempeñar un papel en la mediación de interferencia entre las vías del GMP CÍCLICO y del CMP CÍCLICO. Aunque las enzimas de tipo 2 se clasifican como fosfodiesterasas 3',5' AMP cíclico (EC 3.1.4.17), los miembros de esta clase tienen una especificidad adicional para el GMP CÍCLICO.

Scope note:

A cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase subfamily that is activated by the binding of CYCLIC GMP to an allosteric domain found on the enzyme. Multiple enzyme variants of this subtype can be produced due to multiple alternative mRNA splicing. The subfamily is expressed in a broad variety of tissues and may play a role in mediating cross-talk between CYCLIC GMP and CYCLIC CMP pathways. Although the type 2 enzymes are classified as 3',5'-cyclic-AMP phosphodiesterases (EC 3.1.4.17), members of this class have additional specificity for CYCLIC GMP.
