Scope note: Grupo heterogéneo de células inmunocompetentes que intervienen en la respuesta inmunitaria celular mediante el procesamiento y la presentación de antígenos a las células T. Las células presentadoras de antígeno clásicas son los MACRÓFAGOS, las CÉLULAS DENDRÍTICAS, las CÉLULAS DE LANGERHANS y los LINFOCITOS B. Las CÉLULAS DENDRÍTICAS FOLICULARES no son células presentadoras de antígeno tradicionales pero, como tienen el antígeno en su superficie celular en forma de INMUNOCOMPLEJOS para el reconocimiento de las células B, son consideradas como tales por algunos autores.

Scope note: A heterogeneous group of immunocompetent cells that mediate the cellular immune response by processing and presenting antigens to the T-cells. Traditional antigen-presenting cells include MACROPHAGES; DENDRITIC CELLS; LANGERHANS CELLS; and B-LYMPHOCYTES. FOLLICULAR DENDRITIC CELLS are not traditional antigen-presenting cells, but because they hold antigen on their cell surface in the form of IMMUNE COMPLEXES for B-cell recognition they are considered so by some authors.
