Scope note:

Familia de los receptores activados de la proteinasa, que son específicos para la TROMBINA. Se encuentran principalmente en las PLAQUETAS y en las CÉLULAS ENDOTELIALES. La activación de los receptores de trombina se realiza por la acción proteolítica de la TROMBINA, que desdobla el péptido N-terminal del receptor para revelar un nuevo péptido N-terminal que es un ligando críptico del receptor. Los receptores señalan mediante las PROTEÍNAS DE UNIÓN A GTP HETEROTRIMÉRICAS. Los pequeños péptidos sintéticos que contienen la secuencia peptídica N-terminal no enmascarada pueden activar también el receptor en ausencia de actividad proteolítica.

Scope note:

A family of proteinase-activated receptors that are specific for THROMBIN. They are found primarily on PLATELETS and on ENDOTHELIAL CELLS. Activation of thrombin receptors occurs through the proteolytic action of THROMBIN, which cleaves the N-terminal peptide from the receptor to reveal a new N-terminal peptide that is a cryptic ligand for the receptor. The receptors signal through HETEROTRIMERIC GTP-BINDING PROTEINS. Small synthetic peptides that contain the unmasked N-terminal peptide sequence can also activate the receptor in the absence of proteolytic activity.
