Scope note:	Enzima oxidasa de función mixta que, durante el catabolismo de la hemoglobina, cataliza la degradación del hemo a hierro ferroso, monóxido de carbono y biliverdina, en presencia de oxígeno molecular y NADPH reducido. La enzima es inducida por metales, particularmente el cobalto.

Scope note:

A mixed function oxidase enzyme which during hemoglobin catabolism catalyzes the degradation of heme to ferrous iron, carbon monoxide and biliverdin in the presence of molecular oxygen and reduced NADPH. The enzyme is induced by metals, particularly cobalt.
