Scope note: A laboratory technique for determining the DNA sequence of an organism's genome. In this approach, DNA of an organism is randomly broken into small DNA fragments which are then sequenced individually. Computational methods are then utilized to reassemble these sequenced fragments accurately, reconstructing the complete genome sequence.
