Descriptor English: Viral Pseudotyping
Descriptor Spanish: Pseudotipado Viral
Descriptor seudotipificación viral
Entry term(s) seudotipado viral
viropexia
virus seudotipificados

Scope note: Technique in which endogenous ENVELOPE PROTEINS have been replaced by use of a chimeric vector. For instance a viral vector with SIMIAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS can be coated with the VIRAL ENVELOPE PROTEINS from Vesicular stomatitus virus. Use of these types of vectors are useful in developing NEUTRALIZATION TESTS by enabling infection of almost universal set of host cells.

Concept UI M000745178
Scope note Virus particles with VIRAL ENVELOPE PROTEINS originating from a different virus.

Viropexis - Related but not broader or narrower
Concept UI M000745180
Scope note Process by which different classes of viruses enter the host cell wherein the VIRAL GENOME or VIRION slips through the host membrane by attaching to entry proteins of another class of virus.
Preferred term Viropexis
