Scope note: Glicoproteína sérica de 150 kDa compuesta de tres subunidades cada una de ellas codificada por un gen diferente (C8A, C8B y C8G). Este heterotrímero contiene un heterodímero C8alfa-C8gamma con puentes disulfuro y una cadena C8beta asociada no covalentemente. C8 es el siguiente componente en unirse al complejo C5-7 formando C5b-8 que se une al COMPLEMENTO C9 y actúa como catalizador en la polimerización de C9.
