Scope note: Glicoproteína sérica de 93 kDa codificada por el gen C7. Es una cadena polipeptídica con 28 puentes disulfuro. En la formación del COMPLEJO DE ATAQUE A LA MEMBRANA, C7 es el siguiente componente en unirse al complejo C5b-6 formando un complejo trimolecular C5b-7, que es lipofílico, se asemeja a una proteína de membrana integral, y sirve como ancla para los componentes tardíos del complemento, C8 y C9.

Scope note: A 93-kDa serum glycoprotein encoded by C7 gene. It is a polypeptide chain with 28 disulfide bridges. In the formation of MEMBRANE ATTACK COMPLEX; C7 is the next component to bind the C5b-6 complex forming a trimolecular complex C5b-7 which is lipophilic, resembles an integral membrane protein, and serves as an anchor for the late complement components, C8 and C9.
