Scope note: Péptidos generados a partir de la PROTEÍNA PRECURSORA DE AMILOIDE. La forma fibrilar amiloide de estos péptidos es el principal componente de las placas amiloides que se encuentran en personas con la enfermedad de Alzheimer y en personas mayores con trisomía 21 (SÍNDROME DE DOWN). Se encuentran predominantemente en el sistema nervioso, pero se ha descrito su presencia en tejido no nervioso.

Scope note: Peptides generated from AMYLOID BETA-PEPTIDES PRECURSOR. An amyloid fibrillar form of these peptides is the major component of amyloid plaques found in individuals with Alzheimer's disease and in aged individuals with trisomy 21 (DOWN SYNDROME). The peptide is found predominantly in the nervous system, but there have been reports of its presence in non-neural tissue.
