Descriptor English: DNA Cleavage
Descriptor Portuguese: Clivagem do DNA
Descriptor French: Clivage de l'ADN
Tree number(s): G02.111.210
G05.193
RDF Unique Identifier: https://id.nlm.nih.gov/mesh/D053837
Scope note: A reaction that severs one of the covalent sugar-phosphate linkages between NUCLEOTIDES that compose the sugar phosphate backbone of DNA. It is catalyzed enzymatically, chemically or by radiation. Cleavage may be exonucleolytic - removing the end nucleotide, or endonucleolytic - splitting the strand in two.
Allowable Qualifiers: DE drug effects
RE radiation effects
